UK Films at Cannes 2022

UK films and co-pros in selection

Update: Congratulations to Ruben Östlund on winning his second Palme d'Or at Cannes 2022 for black comedy satire Triangle of Sadness, a Swedish/UK/German/French co-production, with UK producer Mike Goodridge.

We're also delighted that debut Scottish filmmaker Charlotte Wells was awarded the French Touch Prize of the Jury in Critics' Week for her first feature Aftersun, a UK/US co-pro starring Paul Mescal.

Cannes Film Festival returns to the Riviera from 17-28 May 2022, and the 75th edition of the festival welcomes five UK feature films and seven shorts which have so far been announced in selection.

Ruben Östlund is back in Competition with UK co-production Triangle of Sadness after he won the Palme d’Or in 2017 for The Square.

Screening in Directors’ Fortnight this year are highly anticipated world premieres of Mark Jenkin’s and Alex Garland’s latest features Enys Men and Men, both filmed in the UK, and Ireland-UK co-pro God’s Creatures by Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer.

The debut feature from Scottish director Charlotte Wells, Aftersun starring Paul Mescal, is selected for Critics’ Week.

Short films from UK filmmakers are represented across four prestigious strands this year: Directors’ Fortnight Shorts, Critics Week Shorts Competition and Special Screenings, and La Cinef Short films.
