UK talent is well-represented in the TIFF Tribute Awards announced in advance of the festival. The ensemble cast of Michael Grandage’s My Policeman, world premiering at the festival, receives the TIFF Tribute Award for Performance (Harry Styles, Emma Corrin, Gina McKee, Linus Roache, David Dawson, and Rupert Everett).
Sam Mendes receives the Ebert Director Award for Empire of Light, starring Olivia Colman, Michael Ward, Toby Jones and Colin Firth.
The TIFF Tribute Emerging Talent Award, presented by MGM Studios, goes to Award-winning Welsh-Egyptian filmmaker and screenwriter Sally El Hosaini, director of TIFF Opening Night Gala The Swimmers.
The UK’s Aaron Pierre is selected as a TIFF Rising Star in 2022, and stars in the World Premiere of Clement Virgo’s Brother.
